The are basically the same at the hardware level but they are definitely different at the software level. There are two types of GPU's, consumer and workstation. Xeon's are great for video editing and provide a good price point against i7's. Overclocking is not really that unsafe these days but it does have its downsides and you do need some knowledge to do it, a lot of knowledge to do it well. So for 4790k (4 cores, 8 threads, 4.0MHz) vs 5930k (6 cores, 12 threads, 3.5MHz) the 5930 wins here, much better multi-core performance Lots of cores and multi-core performance is what you want, especially for rendering. i5's are fine for gaming but not for editing. A gaming build does not have the same requirement. Please let us know what the budget is and if you need any peripherals.įor video editing/3D animation the order of precedence is: CPU>RAM>Storage>GPU. Thanks in advance and I hope you can help me in this. Last, I wanna know the definition of the term workstation and the difference between it and just PC? Power Supply: XFS TS 650W +ATX power supply >what about it? Motherboard: I heard that x99 is the most suitable, but are there multiple types?Ĭooler: I concluded that the air cooler is better and safer than liquid cooling, is it right? if so, is Nactua NH-D15 CPU cooler is the best? does it cool just the CPU?! Storage: SSD 120GB for system (samsung is good?).

I've heard about the overclocking, but it sounds unsafe. How can I compare a clock speed with number of cores to take the decision? what will affect rendering and using these programs? I'll be using Vray for 3D shots rendering and maybe animation video rendering in the future, but I'm confused on the built items:ĬPU: I'm confused between Intel i7 4790k 4.0GHz quad core and i7 5930 3.5GHz 6-core.

In SolidWorks 2015 (when running the SPECapc Dassault SolidWorks 2015 FSAA benchmark -graphics composite) AMD states that the Radeon Pro WX 2100 is up to 60% faster than the Nvidia Quadro P400 and the Radeon Pro WX 3100 is up to 47 per cent faster than the Nvidia Quadro P600.I want to build a PC for using programs as (3Ds Max, V-Ray, Revit, AutoCad, Rhinoceros and Grasshopper, Photoshop). In PTC Creo 3.0 (when running the SPECapc PTC Creo 3.0 benchmark – graphics composite) AMD reckons the Radeon Pro WX 2100 is up to 9 per cent faster than the Nvidia Quadro P400 and the Radeon Pro WX 3100 is up to 17 per cent faster than the Nvidia Quadro P600. In terms of performance, AMD reckons the Radeon Pro WX 2100 and WX 3100 boasts up to 95 per cent and 2.3x improvements over its previous generation (FirePro W2100 and FirePro W4100).ĪMD has also released benchmark figures that compare the new GPUs to the Nvidia Quadro P400 and Quadro P600.

The pair join AMD’s other ‘Polaris-based’ professional GPUs, the Radeon Pro WX 4100, WX 5100 and WX 7100, which were launched in 2016. AMD has added two entry-level models to its Radeon Pro WX Series of professional GPUs: The Radeon Pro WX 2100 and WX 3100 are designed for entry-level 3D CAD and are certified for a number of applications including SolidWorks, Creo and Revit.
